Letter to our readers
Introducing Not in Dispatches, preparing for our public launch.
Dear reader,
Hello from Geopolitical Dispatch.
Introducing Not in Dispatches
Welcome to our new weekly publication – Not in Dispatches – where we want to connect, share thoughts, tell you why we started Geopolitical Dispatch, and let you know how it’s developing.
The Daily Assessment will continue at the same time, every weekday. Not in Dispatches is different. If Daily Assessment is an update on the world, this is an update on us.
We started writing together on 1 May, but we’ve known each other a lot longer – Michael working in mining in Africa, journalism in Australia, and foreign affairs in Asia; and Cameron in law and consulting, from Australia to The Hague, via Tokyo to Jakarta (plus Singapore, for a few too many G&Ts with Michael).
We have received some fantastic feedback. As we continue to refine the product, you’ll have noticed that the format has changed a bit. Hopefully, however, the quality, value and insights have stayed the same.
The grand reveal
On Wednesday 14 June, we will announce Geopolitical Dispatch to the world. We’ll also soon be introducing some new members of the team: some others we’ve met on the road.
We’d love it if you could share these announcements when they go out on LinkedIn. If you’re not connected to us yet, click here for Michael or here for Cameron. We will post at 10:00 am Australian Eastern Standard Time, which is 8:00 am Wednesday in Hong Kong, 8:00 pm Tuesday in New York and midnight in London.
If we can get more than 20 of you reacting within 20 minutes, the LinkedIn algorithm will push the announcements to more people.
Comments? Feedback?
In the meantime, if you’re enjoying Geopolitical Dispatch, we’d love it if you could tell your friends, family and colleagues.
Over the coming months, we want to scale a sustainable number of daily readers before we introduce new products and services. We think investors and businesses deserve a clearer, more nuanced understanding of world affairs. We want to reach as many people as possible.
Feel free to also let us know your thoughts, whether on the page or via email: geopoliticaldispatch@gmail.com. Over the next few weeks, we hope to professionalise our online presence a bit, so this address may change.
Thank you again for reading. We hope you’re enjoying Geopolitical Dispatch as much as we are.
Best,
Michael Feller and Cameron Grant, co-authors
