Hello from Melbourne,
As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to thank you—our readers—for being part of a remarkable year in geopolitics with us.
Whether you've been following our free Daily Dispatches or delving into the premium benefits of all five daily analyses and our monthly webinars, your engagement and curiosity fuel everything we do. We're incredibly grateful for your trust and interest.
In this final note of the year, I’d like to give you a behind-the-scenes look at Geopolitical Dispatch—who we are, why we’re passionate about what we do, and what lies ahead in 2025. This is especially for the 3,000 new subscribers who joined us this year. Welcome aboard!
A Mission Born of Experience
Geopolitical Dispatch started with a simple but powerful idea: business leaders deserve the same quality of geopolitical analysis that world leaders receive from intelligence agencies and foreign ministries.
When Michael Feller, our Chief Strategist, and I worked together in the Australian diplomatic service, we saw a gap in the market. Businesses were increasingly exposed to geopolitical risks—from trade wars to sanctions and beyond—yet there was no firm dedicated solely to helping them navigate these challenges with a practitioner’s lens.
That’s why we created Geopolitical Dispatch: a concise daily brief inspired by the US President’s Daily Brief, tailored specifically for business leaders. It’s designed to provide clear, actionable insights into the day’s most important international developments, equipping you with the situational awareness to stay ahead in a rapidly changing world.
A Glimpse into Geopolitical Strategy
While Geopolitical Dispatch is our flagship service, it’s only one part of what we do at Geopolitical Strategy. We also work directly with corporates and financial institutions, offering bespoke services such as:
Geopolitical Risk Mapping: Helping organisations identify and assess their exposure to global risks.
Scenario Planning Workshops: Guiding executive teams through potential futures to prepare for the unpredictable.
Strategic Advocacy: Drawing on our diplomatic expertise and networks to influence governments and international organisations on business-critical issues like cybersecurity, trade, and taxation.
Our team—composed of former ambassadors, senior diplomats, and advisors to heads of state—aims to provide geopolitical insights as robust as those of an intelligence agency and advocacy as impactful as that of a diplomatic service. For us, geopolitical strategy is not an academic pursuit; it’s our profession and our passion.
Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
In 2025, we’re taking our services to the next level. Alongside continuing our Daily Dispatches, we’re expanding our advisory offerings to help more businesses map, monitor, and manage geopolitical risks more effectively.
If you’re intrigued by what we do or want to explore how we can help your organisation, I encourage you to get in touch. Whether you're interested in upgrading to our premium tiers or seeking tailored consulting solutions, we’re here to help.
A Small Gift to You
As a token of appreciation for your support this year, we’ve put together an e-book for paid reader featuring all our “front covers” from this year’s Daily Dispatches: The Art of Geopolitics: The Year in Review.
Beyond the art (and our penchant for puns), it offers a fascinating snapshot of the geopolitical upheavals that shaped 2024—and their implications for business and financial markets. Think of it also as a geopolitical journal of a watershed year. Not all of the dispatches will be as prescient as those on Syria of 15 October, or Donald Trump of 25 January or 2 July, but they each show a snapshot of time and how the year built into one few of us will easily forget (even if many will want to).
We hope you enjoy it, and as always, we welcome your feedback and ideas as we head into another dynamic year. And if you have been enjoying Geopolitical Dispatch, why not consider getting a subscription to a loved one as Christmas gift?
Thank you again for being part of our journey. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.
Warm regards,
Damien Bruckard
